Quick and easy version...

PAGE UNDER CONSTRUCTION! LOTS OF LEFT TO DO HERE!

The history of measurement, is absolutely fascinating and full of many twists and turns. (Later in the page we look at that in a little more detail...)

Centuries later – we are still left with a “hodge-podge” of different systems. America and a few others still use the foot and the mile and most elsewhere uses the Meter.

Lets not forget that the nautical mile is still in use as well. Is there anything we can do?

After many years of research, I believe I finally re/discovered a pattern or system, one which perhaps we had lost centuries ago...

A proposal for recalibration of US customary measures...

  1. Before doing anything, we would have to; Admit that Metric system has won the competition with Imperial/US customary measures.

    If you are ok with that – here are the steps;

1. Picture a circle of 4 meter circumference. This is exactly 1/10,000,000 the size of the planet.

2. Gradians – are the metric equivalent of Degrees. 400 gradians = 1 circle. Therefore in this case, 1 cm = 1 gradian!

3. Recalibrate 1 yard to equal 1 meter. Call it a “sim” (simulated) yard.

4. Recalibrate the foot to equal 1/3 of a meter -or 33.333cm. Call it a sim foot.

5. Recalibrate the inch to equal 1/12 of a sim foot. Also 1/36 sim yard. Each inch would be 2.777cm long

6. Add in Degrees or 1/360. Each of these would measure 1.111... cm.

7. Note 90 degrees = exactly 100 cm or gradians. Also 2.5 inches = exactly 1 degree.

8. Admit the Kilometre has won the battle with the mile.

  1. 9. Recalibrate the mile to equal exactly 1 and 2/3 km. (166.666km). Call it a “sim” mile.

10. Note, a micro sim mile would then be 1/240 of the whole circle, and lso 1/60 of 1 metre.

11. After this, it is also possible to add in some correlations with time keeping...

12. The original circle, is a very scaled down version of 24 hours.

13. We also know that Earth to spin 1 degree of distance – or 60 nautical miles, takes 4 minutes.

COME BACK AND FINISH HERE SOON

Right there, you now have a system which ;

Relates time and distance. (The nautical mile - navigational system already does this)!

Incorporates the new (km) and old (mile) systems – and builds a bridge between the 2.

Honestly, after doing all this one day – I was absolutely amazed at some of the results!

Ok straight away, your centimeters become gradians.

Secondly, the “inch” which is based upon the word Uncia – meaning divide by 12 – suddenly the circle contains 12 x 12 inches – 144!

IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER – HERE ARE A LOAD OF TABLES AND ARTICLES – TO SORT THROUGH VERY SOON...

Proposed measurement recalibration.

Table 1 (Primary); 4 meters.

N.B. This table is to exact scale of 1/10,000,000. So 1m =10,000km... And 4m = 40,000km = circumference of earth.

Note 360 degrees = 400 gradians. Also, 1 degree = 60 nautical miles and 1 gradian = 100km.

Table 2a (secondary); 1m or 1 gradian.

These tables are to the exact scale of 1/100,000.

So 1metre = 1 gradian = 100 km. Also please note it is 100 x bigger thanTable 1.

Or read on for - More details...As mentioned in the previous pages, over the centuries that we learned to measure, there was no worldwide governing body- at least not until after the French revolution.

Humanity had devised many weird and wonderful systems – from “Pyramid inches” and “Minoan feet”, to the “Mile” and “Meter” and everything else in between!

History of measurement

Megalithic yard

Minoan feet

Pyramid inches

Mile

Meter.

There were a few numbers that kept coming up; 12, 100, 1000 and 360. Obviously the 360 was based on the days of the year, and I believe 36 inches in a yard echoes that. Multiples of 10 were based on our amount of fingers and 12 was based on ancient ideas including calendar/zodiac/clockface and musical scale.

OK, the Meter is based on 1/40,000,000 of the circumference of the globe via the poles. This includes the number 4. But we think of the meter and km as multiples of 10 – just keep adding Zeros. So, if you think about it, the Meter is more correctly based upon

1 quarter of the globe! North pole to Paris was the original idea. Adding zeros to 1, - 1, 10, 100, etc will only get you quarter of the around the globe. So after thinking about this a lot – and also looking at the 360 degrees used in navigation – I learned about “Gradians”. These are very similar to degrees – but they divide the circle into into 400 parts. Of course this was inspired by the metric system. So to cut a long story short, one day I had the following idea;
